6th/7th July Snowdonia

Many of the Inca Trekkers spent the weekend in Snowdonia training for the trek in Peru. The plan was to spend 2 days climbing some of the Snowdon peaks helped by a professional guide.

The weather forecast for the area was not great but we started to ascend Y Gam early Saturday. As we walked upwards the weather soon closed in testing many of us immediately. By the time we reached the ridge below the summit we were being lashed by 80mph gusts, sideways hail and visibility had dropped to only a few metres. However we all made it to the summit in one piece.

Coming down was an even greater challenge, descending through a barely discernable route down the side of Devils Kitchen to the side of the lake. Due to the atrocious weather conditions we headed back to our youth hostel a little early to freshen up and discuss our Peru trek.

The following morning was an ascent of Snowdon with weary limbs and some minor injuries. Most made it to the top in windy and changeable conditions.

August- Lake District

Some of the trekkers made their way up for two training walks in the lake district including an evening hike on Stickle Ghyll and then a strenuous day on one of the higest parts of the Lake District, Crinkle Craggs.
